TJL coming to Madison, WI!
Over 50 Jewish educators in Madison came together for the fourteenth annual AMini-CAJE@ style workshop last month. This annual convention is open to all current Jewish educators and others who are interested in teaching.
The convention began with keynote speakers Kipp Friedman and Jim Seder, who spoke about The Jewish Lens (TJL). TJL is a gateway to the exploration and discovery of Jewish identity, values, and Peoplehood. Through the use of photography and experiential Jewish curricula, the program enables the next generation in the establishment of their own link to Jewish connectivity – while advancing the value of Klal Yisrael - celebrating the colorful tapestry of Jewish Peoplehood. Founded by world-renowned photographer Zion Ozeri, TJL programs enable Jewish youth to see with their own eyes the wonder of Jewish life in its extraordinary diversity as well as its unity, and encourage them to craft their own narrative that links them to it. Many educators in Madison hope that we can bring this program to our community. To find out more, please visit www.JewishLens.com.
Following the keynote, participants had their choice of three different break-out sessions to attend. The three sessions included how to implement The Jewish Lens curriculum in your school with Kipp Friedman and Jim Seder; Torah Study for the Modern Jew with Rabbi Rebecca Ben-Gideon; and How to Engage Students in a Deeper Way with Amy Krauthamer-Maloney. Many thanks to all of our presenters for participating in the convention this year. We appreciate their time and knowledge to help make this program a valuable experience for Madison’s Jewish educators. Many thanks to Temple Beth El for hosting us this year - we appreciate their hospitality.
